GLD:
A logistics platform to accomodate an expanded product offering
BACKGROUND
Founded in 1989 by Patrick Goffi, GLD operate a 150,000 m² logistics platform in the greater Grenoble area. GLD provide standard and tailored logistics solutions aimed at generating added value for their customers in the storage, inventory management, industrial packaging and transport sectors.
Because of their customers' need for long-term security, GLD decided to take on the role of owner-operator of their warehouses, thus facilitating long-term partnerships. In particular, GLD provide logistics services to Avery Dennison, Becton Dickinson, Caterpillar, Novartis, Schneider and Teisseire, to name but a few.

Long-term security, standardisation and competitiveness are the three watchwords that guided the co-design approach to this project led by GLD and OpenBox. What GLD needed was an efficient and flexible logistics platform at a price that would enable their customers to achieve savings.
- Four cross-docking logistics units extending over 24,000 m²
- Admin offices, dock offices and staff areas covering 550 m²
Delivery: december 2017
- Collaboration with GLD in order to establish a schedule
- Visits to existing buildings in order to capitalise on GLD's expertise and knowledge
- Submission of a compelling proposal, broken down by construction cost (procurement), fees, insurance and "Co Design&Build" costs
- Benchmarking of "Co Design&Build" prices against those of a general contractor – which GLD had been using up to that point
- Discussions, clarification and negotiations with the fire services, the regional environment, development and housing agency (DREAL), the planner, and the building permit departments alongside GLD
- Submission of final tender documents and list of companies included in the tendering process
- Submission of procurement prices
- Collaboration throughout the entire construction phase
- Sharing of savings after delivery
- The competitiveness of the OpenBox solution enabled GLD to achieve significant savings on their investment.
- OpenBox's expertise in the logistics real estate sector enabled GLD to secure an optimal design.
- At all stages, GLD retained final say over all decisions made in relation to their project. All of the necessary elements were documented and provided to GLD in order to facilitate informed decision-making.
